The Sapphires
"The Sapphires" (Southern Sapphire) Changed our name in 2025., because during Christmas 2024, when we walked into a historic Victorian House to sing Christmas Carols, the volunteers shouted with glee, "The Sapphires are here!" We've been singing together since Fall 2023. Hire us for events year round including Birthdays, Club Meetings, Singing Valentines, Christmas events, or any other event. We'd love to bring some live music to your event!

Susan Stair, Tenor, Susan Stair has been a Sweet Adeline since 1995. Prior to moving to Knoxville, she sang with Vienna Falls. She has sung with many quartets, but Competed for her first time with us in 2024.

Susan Brooks, Lead. Susan Brooks has been a Sweet Adeline since 2007.   She had the privilege to sing under the direction of Ann Gooch with Jax Harmony Chorus as well as quartetting with her. During her time with Jax Harmony she was a member of two different quartets , competing at the regional contest several times.
In 2022 she  moved to Knoxville TN where she found K Town Sound chorus. Currently she is the Lead Section Manager and chairs both the Membership Committee and the PR/Marketing Committee. She says "The privilege to now be singing with Southern Sapphire is awesome. So grateful to be singing in a quartet with so much talent"

Janet Brockman. Baritone. Janet has been a Sweet Adeline since 2012. Singing Baritone fits right in with her personality. She sings the leftover notes in barbershop, just like she eats leftovers at home. She fell in love with the barbershop sound after hearing a men’s quartet sing at work when she lived in Alpharetta, Georgia. After transferring to the Knoxville, TN area, She joined Smoky Mountain Harmony chapter until they folded in October 2012. Work got in the way for a while, but when work eased up in July 2014 she joined K-Town Sound Show Chorus, and currently serves as their President. She has also been singing with Song of Atlanta since 2022. Janet retired in 2024 from being an IT Release Manager and lives with her husband, David, in Louisville, Tennessee.

Diane McGrarth, Bass, Diane has been a Sweet Adeline since 1996. She’s competed regionally numerous times, earned several medals, including first place with Rio quartet in Region 11 (California) in 2007.  When she moved to Tennesse, she thought she was done with Sweet Adelines. Boy was she wrong! She currently co-directs K-Town Sound Show Chorus and loves teaching singers how to be better. Diane says "...it’s a blast to be quartetting again!"
The quartet and the chorus is lucky to have her!

Dragonfly Quartet

Dragonfly Quartet

Dragonfly Quartet - We embrace the spirit of the dragonfly—graceful, adaptable, and full of wonder. Through our music, we celebrate transformation, joy, and the beauty of the present moment. Each note we sing is meant to lift spirits, spark connection, and share harmony, inspiring audiences to see the magic in everyday life and the light in each other.

Pictured Top Row Melinda and Jessica, Bottom Row: Tolea and Rachel

Jessica. Tenor, is originally from Indiana and a Knoxville transplant since 2011. She has been singing most of her life and was introduced to barbershop in 2014.. When she isn't singing, Jessica enjoys trying new foods, reading, and going bowling.

Rachel, Lead, dances through life with a song in her heart, dirt under her nails, and adventure waiting just beyond the horizon. Chickens cluck nearby as she paints, sculpts, crafts sparkling stained glass, and twists yarn into cozy creations in her hands. Whether exploring the outdoors, tending her garden, or bringing color and light into every corner, she lives in a world full of music, creativity, and wonder.

Melinda, Baritone.

Tolea, Bass, has been a Knoxville resident since 1996 when she moved here from Michigan. She has been singing most of her life. Tolea was convinced by her daughter, who's best friend was singing with a local chorus at the time, to come and visit. She fell in love with barbershop and has been involved on and off since 2000. She was a dual member, singing with Metro Nashville chorus but now sings with both K-Town Sound and Dragonfly.
